Laser Hardfacing of Oil Drilling Tools

LWS developed the non-magnetic hardfacing process HYPROTECT for:

• Wear Bands
• Stabilizers

HYPROTECT maximizes the lifetime of components downhole with superior quality at a lower cost compared to current laser processes.

• Laser hardening is a surface hardening technology that is attractive for parts which cannot or only with limitations be hardened in a conventional way.
• AUTOHARD is a laser hardening process utilizing a high-speed scanning unit and a closed-loop temperature control system to automatically maximize the hardness of a tools or component and at the same time minimize heat related warping or distortion.
